Colour Coded Courses

We will offer the following colour coded courses on each day:

CourseTechnical DifficultyLengthSuitability
WhiteEasy. Technical Difficulty 1.
White courses are very easy with all controls on paths.  They may have tapes routes to guide competitors if there is no path.
Approx. 2km6-10 year olds and family groups.
YellowEasy. Technical Difficulty 2 .
Yellow courses use simple line features such as paths, walls and streams.
Approx. 2.5kmUnder 12s and families.
OrangeSlightly harder. Technical Difficulty 3.
Orange courses progress to basic use of the compass and route choice.
Approx. 3kIdeal for novice orienteers.
Light GreenMore technical. Technical Difficulty 4.
Light Green courses require more navigational technique using simple contour features and point features for navigation and controls.
Approx. 3kFor people more confident in their navigational skills.
RedTechnical Difficulty 3 Technically similar to orange courses, but longer.Approx. 5k Ideal for a fit runner who is still developing navigation skills.
