At Tentsmuir on Day 4, the Elite classes had chasing starts, with the leaders after Day 3 going off first. On the day, Matthew Speake (Eborienteers) returned to claim victory in M21E, covering 9.125km in 52:28. Oleg Chepelin (Grampian Orienteers) took second place ahead of Duncan Archer (Cleveland). In W21E, Heather Gardner took her first victory of the week and made it a double win for Eborienteers with a time of 57:22 for 7.225km, ahead of Cecilia Bratt (OK Orion) and Sarah Buckerfield (Aussie Kangaroos).
Overall, Oleg Chepelin’s excellent result moves him into the lead on M21E, nearly three minutes clear of Carsten Jorgensen, the Dane running for New Zealand club PAPO, with the previous leader Ian Nixon now in third. Cecilia Bratt consolidates her position at the top of W21E, with a two minute lead over Heather Gardner. Hollie Orr (Edinburgh University) is in third place overall.
