Oban Air Sports operates all year round and provides Microlight flight training as well as gift voucher Trial Flights and lessons.
Our aim is to provide affordable flying that is open to all people wanting to experience the sheer delight and fulfilment that flying provides.
We offer the following:
30 Minute flight - around the local area with a brief introduction to flight controls if required. Typical routes are from Oban, Head of Loch Etive, and the four castles surrounding oban. Or as you wish within time constraints.
60 Minute flight - Will take you as far south as the giant whirlpool between Scarba and Jura. Flights to Ben Nevis and Glencoe is also possible. Or as requested.
90 Minute flight - Will cover most of Argyll and Bute and landings at Mull, Coll, and Colonsay is possible. Fly over the west coast of Jura and spot the most concentrated amount of red deer in Scotland. Fly over Ben Cruachan and get a bird’s eye view of the Hydro Dam and Loch Awe.
If you have never experienced the sensation of open cockpit flying our gift vouchers would make the ideal present. After a thorough briefing from our professional instructors we will have you coasting out towards the Island of Mull or tracking north towards Fort William to take in the scenery surrounding Glen Coe and Ben Nevis, a little further North. In clear days we can see as far south as the pap’s of Jura and Colonsay. If you have a head for heights we can climb up to 5000ft and marvel in the view on offer.
Once airborne and relaxed our instructors will demonstrate how to fly the aircraft. You will be invited to take control and from then on you can do as much of the flying as you like. If you would rather sit back and enjoy the flight that is fine but please don’t forget to bring your camera to catch a memento of your flight with us.
All our instructors are highly experienced and fully qualified through the CAA so you’ll be in very safe hands.
We will provide you with a flying suit, gloves, balaclava if required and a headset. All that we ask is you wear sensible footwear as winter flying can be rather cold and flip flops would not be suitable.
Usually you buy a gift voucher and then phone up to book a specific day/time, but we can accept bookings and payment at short notice if there are spaces available.
