Edited on 08th Aug 2011
Oban 2011 have chosen this local charity as the recipient for any donations received.
The amount donated so far is £337.17
The charity is Oban Mountain Rescue Team; these volunteers cover the area where all the competitions will be held; hopefully no one will require their services! You can find out more about the team on their website http://www.obanmrt.co.uk
They also have a ‘Donate Now’ button on the home page if you would like to donate directly to the team.
There will be a donation tin at the Information tent every day should you wish to donate cash during the event.
The Oban Mountain Rescue Team provides search and rescue cover for an area covering the northwest of Argyll from Bridge of Orchy to Campbeltown and the islands including Mull and Jura. The team consists of 37 active members all of who are unpaid volunteers dedicating their time to helping people in need, responding to between 15 and 20 call-outs a year. All members are experienced mountaineers with vast amounts of local knowledge. Every member is also an emergency first aider.
