Be aware of Bugs

Wee Beasties:

As well as seeing the nice Scottish wildlife (eg dolphins) you may come into contact with some not so nice, ie midges and ticks. The Information point has copies of a fact sheet about ticks and the safest way to remove them, and most local shops will sell natural remedies to deter midges.

Check carefully for ticks after each run and remove them (the recommended method is using an 'O-Tom'). Lyme disease does occur in the area. If you develop a rash at the site of a tick bite you are advised to seek medical advice. These can on some occasions cause serious illness.
