Abhainn Deabhag (Glen Affric)

Final touches including new gates are being made to the bridge over the Abhainn Deabhag (Glen Affric) commissioned by the Scottish Orienteering Association on behalf of Highland 2015.

The bridge opens up route choice options for next year’s event and as a permanent structure offers visitors and local residents the choice of extending walks, runs or cycle rides in this beautiful area.

Colin Matheson recently signed off the main construction elements of the project with 71 Engineer Regiment (Volunteer) and looks forward to the Sappers returning next year to carry out further support tasks including temporary bridges. Financial support was received from the Scottish Government and sportscotland (Legacy 2014 Active Places fund), Highland Council (Ward Discretionary Budget) and Forestry Commission Scotland.
