Colour coded courses

Colour coded competitors will not have allocated start times; their bib will be annotated 'PS' for punching start, which means they can start at any time. They are however reminded that it is their own responsibility to get to the correct Start in plenty of time before the starts close, and when they get there to clear their SI card. Information about Start location and Colour coded course entered is on your competitor bib. Start location will usually be the same every day, but note that on Day 6 the Light Green Course goes from a different start. Please double-check your bib every day before you leave the Arena.
Note that there may be a queue at busy times to enter the start lane for Colour coded courses. As soon as they enter the start lane, competitors on Colour coded courses will be asked to 'check' their SI card. As they pass on through the start lane, there will be an opportunity to collect loose control descriptions and to see a blank map of the area. The map bags for Colour coded courses will be clearly marked with the colour of the course. Competitors on Colour coded courses are responsible for ensuring they pick up the correct map.

Age class courses

Age class competitors are reminded that it is their own responsibility to get to the correct Start in time to clear their SI card and be ready to enter the start boxes 4 minutes before their start time.

Information about your Start location, start time and course number is on your competitor bib. Start location will usually be the same every day, but there are some changes on Day 6, so please double-check your bib every day before you leave the Arena.

At each Start there will be a clock in the pre-start area (sometimes referred to as the 'call-up clock'), which shows the time 4 minutes in advance of race time. When this clock shows your start time, go to the entrance to the start boxes and your name will be checked off as you enter the -4 minute box. Note: names will be checked off, not called out loudly, so be ready to move forward at the correct time.

Competitors on Age class courses will be asked to 'check' their SI card as they enter the -4 box; they can collect loose control descriptions in the -3 box; they can look at a blank map of the area in the -2 box; they will be asked to 'check' again in the -1 box. There is a clock with race time visible from the -1 box and this clock will 'beep' from 5 seconds before the full minute. The last beep is a longer one and this is the point after which the competitor can start. It is a timed start, so there is no punch at the start line for those going through the main start boxes. A map layout plan will be visible from the -1 box, to make sure competitors know where to go to pick up their map after crossing the start line. Competitors are responsible for picking up the correct map for the course they have entered.

Here is a diagram showing the at the Scottish 6 Days 2015. Please remember this is purely an indication of how the Start will be arranged, and that the actual Start has to fit with the terrain available.
